Protesters Celebrate Hitting and Knifing Trump Piñata

Protest Actions Draw Controversy

Over the weekend, there was no celebration among the No Kings protesters in Broadview, Illinois, following an incident in which a child struck and stabbed a piñata resembling President Donald Trump. This act prompted Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) to assert that it contributes to a culture of “assassination.”

The gathering occurred outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility, where a man was seen handing a stick to participants for the piñata. At one point, he encouraged the crowd, asking, “Sir, would you like to take a swing?” in an effort to prompt someone to hit the doll.

Eventually, the video captured the child taking up the stick and engaging with the Trump piñata, even stabbing it in the process.

“Take your swing friends. Go on the swing,” the man encouraged, giving the child a stick to continue.

Cheers and applause erupted from onlookers as the boy was urged on with phrases like, “Get his body. Get his body. Good!” The scene was quite intense.

In response to the event, Senator Lee voiced concern, stating, “This is crazy. This is how a culture of assassination takes hold,” and called for a condemnation from Democrats regarding such acts.

This incident unfolds amid rising discussions about political violence, particularly in light of the tragic assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Reports indicate that the No Kings protests drew left-leaning individuals who appeared to celebrate or endorse violence. Notably, a woman’s actions during the event—mocking Kirk’s assassination as she pretended to fire a gun—went viral, leading to backlash due to her occupation as an elementary school teacher in Chicago.

Video footage shows the woman mimicking gunfire with her hands, allegedly mocking Kirk’s demise, while those who recorded it insisted they supported the founder.

In a contrasting perspective, it’s important to acknowledge that President Trump faced two assassination attempts last year, one in Palm Beach, Florida, and the other during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
