Police held back protesters on the 18th green at TPC River Highlands during the final hole of the Travelers Championship on Sunday.
As Scottie Scheffler was on the 18th green looking to take the win, protesters swarmed the course in Cromwell, Connecticut.

Golf fans booed the protesters, some shouting expletives, as officials tried to get them off the green as quickly as possible.
Some protesters wore T-shirts with the extinction symbol on the back, a circle representing Earth and a stylized hourglass to represent running out of time.

The T-shirts also read “No Golf on a Dead Planet,” suggesting that the protesters are climate change activists.
The protest came at a crucial time in the tournament, as Tom Kim needed a birdie to force a playoff against Scheffler, who made par on the 18th hole after play resumed.

That’s exactly what he did, finishing with a 66 through 18 holes after Scheffler shot a 65 on the day.
This is not the first time we’ve seen protesters descend on a sports stadium: environmental activists have been spotted at NFL games in the past, and some have tried to stick their hands on the court at NBA games.
All of the protesters were handcuffed and escorted out of the stadium by authorities while the tournament was still ongoing.
Kim was forced into a playoff, but Scheffler again made par on the 18th hole to win as Kim could not match him.
