A group of demonstrators held a rally in Washington, DC, on Tuesday night to protest the recent police shooting of a man in the southeast part of the district.
This comes after 26-year-old Justin Robinson, a member of D.C.'s violence prevention program Cure the Streets, was shot and killed by police earlier this month at a McDonald's on Marion Barry Avenue.
“Cure the Streets” is an experimental public safety program launched by the D.C. Attorney General's Office aimed at reducing gun violence.

The Metropolitan Police Department released body camera footage showing Robinson, who was unconscious in his car with a gun on his lap after crashing into the McDonald's, regaining consciousness before being shot by an officer and trying to grab the officer's gun through the car window. Fox 5DC Reported.
According to the outlet, the group marched from the 7th Precinct Police Station to the McDonald's where the deadly shooting occurred on September 1st.
According to the media, protesters shouted slogans such as “No justice, no peace” and “Arrest the police” as they confronted police standing behind barricades.

On Tuesday, the protests swelled to more than 100 people, roads were blocked and police said they had arrested six protesters.
“At approximately 10:05 p.m., a peaceful protest at MPD's 7th Precinct Police Station became violent when people began throwing objects, including bottles and rocks, at officers,” police said in a statement. “MPD immediately began issuing dispersal warnings as people continued to throw objects at officers.”
“We will continue to support those who choose to protest peacefully and safely and will continue to hold accountable those who commit criminal acts,” police added.

Police announced they would be increasing police presence in the 7th Precinct out of an abundance of caution.
The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave as the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
