Psaki: Democrats are ‘in the wilderness’ with no ‘clear leader’

Former White House communications director and MSNBC host Jen Psaki said that after a crushing election loss, Democrats are now “in the wilderness” with no clear leadership to guide them.

“Look, I think the Democratic Party is in a wilderness. Like I said, the party doesn't have clear leadership,” Psaki said Sunday on NBC's “Meet the Press.” Highlighted by Mediaite.

He noted that President Biden is scheduled to leave office within 65 days and that Vice President Harris lost the presidential election.

Psaki noted that a Democratic governor could emerge as the party's leader. There is talk that California Gov. Gavin Newsom will be in charge, but as Psaki said Sunday, there is no clear leader at this point.

After a crushing election loss, Democrats are on fire and trying to figure out where they went wrong in communicating and reaching working-class voters.

While many are sounding the alarm over President Trump's second term and Republicans controlling both houses of Congress, Psaki sees this as an opportunity for Democrats.

“For me, it's an opportunity because people have to make a decision,” she said.

“Nobody's giving it away, right? Either you grab the mantle or you don't. Are you going to be that person…Who's the right person to stand up to Trump? You're going to be the one who brings the country together. Are you going to be someone who talks about economics in a way that people understand? There are many ways to do that,” Psaki continued. “We don't know who's going to show up, but this is the moment.”
