Police in Florida have launched a massive manhunt to find an illegal alien accused of a shocking and brutal crime in which he stabbed his girlfriend and her daughter to death.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister explained “Extremely gruesome scenes” at a highly emotional media conference on Wednesday night.
Police swarmed the mobile home around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after a roommate discovered the bodies of a woman and her daughter in Dover, Chronister said. He said they found a woman in a pool of blood behind the mobile home and a 4-year-old girl who was later found dead inside the home.
Neighbors said they had heard the woman’s screams earlier that day, but did nothing because it was a routine occurrence.
“I was taken back to the level of pure evil that occurred when our suspect brutally murdered an innocent woman and young child,” he added.
Chronister initially said both men died from “blunt force trauma” and explained how he discovered a bloody handprint left by a woman who had tried to flee.he It was later revealed Both victims were found with stab wounds.
Police identified 31-year-old Angel Kuzczuk as the prime suspect and said he fled the scene into a strawberry field outside the mobile home. They mobilized aviation and K-9 units to search for the man.
On Thursday, police announced they had captured Kuzchok.
“This murderer who brutally murdered these two innocent victims and committed this heinous, despicable, unthinkable crime has been arrested,” Chronister told WTSP-TV.
They identified the victims as 36-year-old Amalia Choc De Pek and her daughter Estrella Pek De Pek. Police do not believe the daughter is Kuzchok’s biological child, instead claiming that the girl’s biological father is still in Guatemala.
Investigators say the man tried to ask his friends for help, but they refused. Body camera footage showed a K-9 officer first spotting Kuzchok before he was arrested.
Police say the man is suspected of confessing to the murder. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, but police say other charges are pending.
Chronister said Kuzchok was in the U.S. illegally and that the three men had come to the United States several months before the brutal murders.
