Days after President-elect Donald Trump won the US presidential election, Qatar told Hamas leaders to leave the country where they had enjoyed years of luxurious exile, according to Israeli media reports.
The Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas has been able to protect many of its leaders because they have taken refuge in US allies Qatar and Turkey. Turkey is a NATO member, but the Biden-Harris administration declared Qatar is a major non-NATO ally despite its continued support for Hamas and other terrorist organizations.
The Biden-Harris administration has been pressuring Qatar to eliminate Hamas. However, the election of President Trump appears to have been the trigger.
of jerusalem post office reported Friday:
Qatar has agreed to remove Hamas from its territory after Hamas refused to carry out genuine hostage/ceasefire negotiations, a US official told Israeli state broadcaster KAN on Saturday morning.
This latest update comes after the Palestinian terrorist group rejected the latest offer to reach a ceasefire and hostage deal, saying on Friday that the US told Qatar that Hamas' presence in Doha was no longer acceptable. This comes after a senior U.S. government official told Reuters. .

Qatar made the request to Hamas leaders about 10 days ago, the official said. The U.S. government has been in contact with Qatar about when to close Hamas's political offices and told Doha that now is the time after the group rejected its latest proposal.
Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed under heavy security in late July while attending the inauguration of Iran's new president in Tehran. Israel is said to be responsible for the attack, but has not yet officially claimed responsibility.
