The newly released surveillance video shows the moment when a New York City corrections officer was unfavourably shot and killed in Queens during a parking lot more than four years ago, was viciously shot and killed in Queens during a parking lot. Prosecutors hope it will lead to a murderer.
The grainy, black and white footage shows victim John Jeff, 28, killed an assailant who allegedly fled the scene early on August 15, 2020. It indicates that it has been done.
No pointless violence exploded when Jeff was caught in a parking conflict at the corner of Defoe and Ridgegale Streets in Springfield Gardens, officials said.
Jeff, a passenger in a black Chevrolet Malibu, was surrounded by a garbage truck and two other vehicles in a black Mercedes and a blue BMW behind him.
Jeff asked the car driver to back up, and an argument with Black Mercedes residents broke out, leading Jeff to draw firearms while identifying himself as an officer, Katz said.
Black Mercedes then backed up and allowed Jeff to take the left to the car and his driver, his driver, to the left to Defoe Street.
However, Jeff was caught up in another argument a few seconds later. Another car (the white Infinity) traveled down Defoe Street in the opposite direction, blocking the vehicle Jeff was inside.
Someone knocked on the window and Jeff got out of the car before he could be sure with that person.
At a nearby party, confusion unfolded before multiple gunshots broke out, shocking Jeff to his head and body.
“Everyone started running, they started screaming. I lost my shoes and nails,” Reveler told the post at the time, lifting his fingers with a fake red nail missing.
“I was almost trampled.”
Another party attendant said, “I heard someone scream, 'Yes, someone was shot, someone was shot.' I ran to the corner. I saw the man lying there. [Then] I heard a screeching like a tire. ”
Katz said three cars (black Mercedes, blue BMW and white infinity) fled after the shooting.
Investigators discover 13 shell casings at the bloody crime scene, and Jeff believes he may have been shot with his own gun after being blown up by a bullet from the PARP.
His firearms did not recover.
Jeff was assigned to the Anna M. Cross Center on Rikers Island, where he spent more than two years working, according to the amendment union.
Katz's office distributed footage on Wednesday.
Queen's Da appeals to the public to bring any information forward.
“The case gets cold, but I will never forget it,” Katz said in a statement.
