Quentin Tarantino Shares His Favorite Films
Renowned filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has opened up about his favorite film and what he considers his “ultimate Quentin film.”
During an episode of “The Church of Tarantino” podcast on August 15, he expressed which of his works he connects with the most. “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is my favorite. ‘Inglourious Basterds’ is my best,” he stated.
He further distinguished between these two films by saying, “But I think ‘Kill Bill’ is the ultimate Quentin film—it’s something that only I could have crafted.” He elaborated on his connection to “Kill Bill,” describing it as deeply personal.
“Every aspect of it, like tentacles and bloody tissues, comes from my imagination, my status, my love, my passion, my obsession,” he reflected. He added, “I was born to make ‘Kill Bill.’ While ‘Inglourious Basterds’ is a masterpiece, ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ is my favorite.”
When discussing his films more broadly, Tarantino highlighted his favorite scripts. “I believe ‘Inglourious Basterds’ stands as my best script, with ‘Hateful Eight’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ following closely,” he mentioned. He referred to ‘The Hateful Eight’ as a piece filled with intense emotions and thought, asserting, “It’s probably my best directorial work as well.”
Tarantino’s upcoming tenth film remains undecided, though he has hinted at the possibility of a sequel to “The Adventures of Cliff Booth.”
