Quick-thinking Texas family wraps baby bird in warm tortilla until wildlife experts arrive

A resourceful Texas family found the baby bird lying helpless on the ground and safely wrapped it in a warm tortilla until wildlife experts could arrive.

An Amarillo family found what they thought was an orphaned barn owl during a barbecue Saturday. Worried the baby was cold, the mother had some tortillas heated up on the grill and wrapped them around the owl.

They called for help from the Wild West Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, where staff arrived shortly to find the owl sleeping comfortably and safely under a burrito blanket.

“It was definitely a creative way to keep the baby warm and, surprisingly, it was effective,” the wildlife center said. said in a social media post.“The hatchlings are currently on their way back to the facility. Wildlife rescue missions are always full of excitement and unexpected moments.”
