The co-directors of “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” are adamant that they told the participants what was going on.
Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz release a statement to Fox News Digital on Friday after former “Double Dare” host Mark Summers claims he was “ambushed” by documentary directors did.
“We are clear with each participant about the nature of the project,” Robertson and Schwartz said.

The co-directors’ statement came after Summers made a guest appearance on “The Elvis Duran Show” and claimed he was not informed of the nature of the documentary before signing on.
“They called me and said they wanted to do a documentary for Nickelodeon,” he said. Summers explained that he had made positive comments about his time at the network before the co-director set up a “bait and switch” on him.

“They ambushed me,” Summers said. “They never told me what this documentary was actually about. So they showed me this video that I can’t believe is on Nickelodeon and I said, “Oh, let’s stop the tape here. what are we doing? ” “”

Summers said that’s when the nature of the documentary became clear. These included allegations against Dan Schneider, who ran the network, and Drake Bell’s account of sexual abuse by Brian Peck.
Peck was convicted of indecency with a child and oral copulation of a person under 16 in 2003 and spent 16 months in prison.

Summers decided to step away from documentaries.
“About six weeks ago I got a call and they said, ‘You’re off the show for good,’ and I thought that was really cool,” he said. “Then, about four weeks ago, they called me and said, ‘Well, you’re in, but you’ve told a positive story about Nickelodeon, so we’re still in the first part. It’s not too much.”
Summers said she was “cheated” and said the documentary captures the moment she was “ambushed” on camera.

“What they didn’t tell me and lied to me about was the fact that when they ambushed me, they put another object in the area that was pointing the camera at me. So now… We’re in a whole situation of who’s being unethical,” he continued.

Summers said Schneider “took over” Nickelodeon after he finished hosting “Double Dare” and “never met him.”
He explained that the only person Schneider knew on the network at the time was comedian and actor Kenan Thompson.

“I’ve never met any of them,” Summers said of the people mentioned in the documentary.
