WWE Star R-Truth Announces Departure After Nearly 20 Years
This past weekend, R-Truth, a prominent figure in the WWE, made a surprising announcement about his decision to leave the company after an extensive tenure of almost two decades.
R-Truth, whose real name is Ron Killings, has had a notable career in wrestling, including a successful partnership with fellow wrestler The Miz. Together, they secured the Raw Tag Team Championship in an exciting 6-pack ladder match at WrestleMania 40.
The duo’s on-screen chemistry, often dubbed a “great truth,” resonated deeply with fans, prompting a substantial reaction to R-Truth’s recent announcement.
In an interview prior to his participation in the American Century Championship Celebrity Golf Tournament, which is scheduled for next month, The Miz shared his thoughts on R-Truth’s departure. “It’s always tough to see something like that happen,” he reflected. “But I believe that R-Truth will find his footing again. He is very talented.”
R-Truth recently wrapped up a brief rivalry with legendary wrestler John Cena, which unfolded during Cena’s farewell tour. After congratulating Cena on his title defense against Randy Orton, R-Truth found himself momentarily sidelined during a media event, leading to a week-long rivalry that later ended with a match where R-Truth lost to JC Mateo on “Friday Night Smackdown.”
Having debuted in WWE back in 1999 as “K-Kwik,” he experienced a stint away from the organization before returning in 2008 as R-Truth, quickly becoming a fan favorite in both the ring and on the microphone.
Throughout his career, R-Truth accumulated an impressive list of accolades, which includes two reigns as US Champion, hardcore champion, and World Tag Team Champion, along with a remarkable 54 reigns as 24/7 Champion. In 2004, he garnered recognition as the 18th best wrestler in Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s top 500 list.
The wrestling community is certainly buzzing with anticipation about R-Truth’s next steps after such a long and influential career. It’s hard to imagine WWE without him, but hopefully, he finds success in whatever he chooses to do next.
