Has anyone checked the tickets for the creature?
It was seen roaming the stands at Citi Field on Wednesday night during the Mets’ game against the Pirates, who were up 4-0.
SNY’s cameras captured the creature wandering for seven innings, making its way through one section before the footage cut to a raccoon in another area.
The camera was inches away from one fan, who seemed oblivious to the commotion in the moments leading up to it.
“An unexpected visitor! Guess my trash can was appealing last night,” joked Cohen. He remarked that it was “park bark” on Monday, adding that no one had noticed the raccoon sneaking around.
Darling then expressed his fear of the nocturnal animals.
“Honestly, I’m scared of raccoons,” he admitted, while Cohen pointed out that fans in Center Field appeared unaware of the creature.
“They’re just sitting there. One guy’s eating chocolate,” Darling mentioned.
Encounters with raccoons at Citi Field aren’t exactly rare. Fans and media have reported similar sightings over the years.
Interestingly, back in 2021, Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil got into a bit of a spat over whether they had seen a rat or a raccoon in the tunnel leading from the dugout to the clubhouse, although Mike Puma later mentioned that there were other issues at play.
Even NYCFC, another tenant of Citi Field, had their own raccoon encounter last season during a road game in Philadelphia.
The Mets are set to face the Bronx Yankees on Friday.
