The mother of Rachel Morin, the Maryland mother of five who was allegedly murdered by an illegal immigrant, blasted Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for depersonalizing her, calling her daughter merely an “individual” in a statement this week.
During an appearance on CNN on Tuesday, he said: [Biden] Mayorkas blamed the administration for allowing Americans to die at the hands of illegal immigrants, saying, “First and foremost, our hearts go out to the women, mothers whose children, families, loved ones and friends were murdered.”
Rachel’s mother, Patty Morin, slammed Secretary Mayorkas’ comments during an appearance on Fox News Channel on Wednesday night, claiming they were part of a “political rhetoric” aimed at “objectifying” her daughter.
“My reaction is that this is a completely political statement,” Morin told “The Ingram Angle” host Laura Ingram. “It completely depersonalizes her and objectifies her.”

Patty Morin also said that the Biden administration’s [Rachel] Statistically, it just shows how inhumane they are and how little they value life.”
In the same interview with CNN on Tuesday, Mayorkas refused to accept responsibility for Morin’s killing, saying “criminals are held accountable for their criminal conduct.”
“The criminals who committed this heinous act must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” Mayorkas said at the time.
Fox News Digital reached out to the Department of Homeland Security on Thursday for its response to Patty Maurin’s comments and whether the department plans to contact Maurin’s family. The department was also asked whether Mayorkas has used Maurin’s name in other interviews.
“The Department of Homeland Security cannot comment publicly on ongoing criminal investigations. However, anyone who commits the horrific and senseless crimes this individual has been accused of should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Our hearts go out to the family of Rachel Morin,” a Homeland Security spokesperson said in a statement.
Maureen, 37, was reported missing in August by her boyfriend, who said she never returned on Aug. 5, 2023, after going for a run on Mama & Pa Trail, a pedestrian-only trail in Bel Air, a quiet and usually safe town about 18 miles northeast of Baltimore.

Victor Martinez Hernandez, an illegal immigrant suspected of killing Morin, was arrested on June 14 after a 10-month investigation. Morin’s murder. He was charged with rape and first-degree murder.
Hernandez, who has reportedly been in the United States since February 2023, was arrested while “casually sitting” at a bar in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Police say he arrived in the U.S. just one month after he allegedly killed a young woman in El Salvador. Authorities said the suspect’s DNA was also linked to a Los Angeles robbery in March in which a mother and her 9-year-old daughter were assaulted.

Hernandez is Extradited to Maryland Harford County police confirmed the man left Tulsa, Oklahoma on Thursday morning and was scheduled to arrive at the Martin State Airport between 12:30 and 1 p.m.
Upon arriving in Maryland, the 23-year-old was transported to the Harford County Detention Center.
