Raiders Sign Veteran Tackle Following Injury
This past Saturday, the Las Vegas Raiders placed linebacker Brennan Jackson on the injured/reserve list due to a leg injury he sustained during Thursday’s preseason opener. With this move, the Raiders opened up a roster spot, which they quickly filled by signing a veteran offensive tackle ahead of their upcoming game against the Houston Texans.
Folorunso Fatukasi was the player they brought in, and, interestingly enough, he’s no stranger to the Texans, the Raiders’ next opponents.
Fatukasi has spent the last two seasons in Houston, starting in 12 out of the 15 games he participated in with the team. However, his 2025 season was cut short after only appearing in four games (with one start) due to an injury.
Back in 2024, he was a starter in all 11 games he played for the Texans, racking up 24 total tackles, with four being for loss. He also logged three quarterback hits and one sack, contributing to one of the league’s top defenses.
This defensive tackle was picked by the New York Jets in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. For the first four seasons of his career, he was with the Jets, making 15 starts in 2021. Following that, he spent two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars but was released in March 2024.
Now, Fatukasi is poised to kick off the next chapter with the Raiders.
Throughout his NFL career, which spans 90 games and 60 starts, he has recorded a total of 195 tackles, 7.0 sacks, and 28 tackles for loss, in addition to 24 quarterback hits, seven passes defensed, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. His versatility allows him to play as a defensive end, defensive tackle, or nose tackle.
The Raiders typically utilize a base 3-4 defense, which means there’s usually only one defensive tackle on the field. It’s worth noting that Maxx Crosby, who returned to the Raiders after a failed trade attempt with the Ravens, serves as a pass rusher while being labeled as a linebacker.
Currently, Adam Butler and Benito Jones are leading the depth chart for defensive tackles. As training camp continues, Fatukasi is expected to see an increase in playtime.
