Raiders’ Antonio Pierce questions team’s effort in loss to Panthers

The Las Vegas Raiders were defeated 36-22 by the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, with coach Antonio Pierce criticizing his players.

The Raiders have allowed 30 or more points in a game for the first time since Nov. 26, 2023, against the Kansas City Chiefs. And it was the Panthers, who entered this week in disarray and replaced Bryce Young with Andy Dalton.

That didn't matter to the Panthers, as Dalton completed 26 of 37 passes for 319 yards and three touchdown passes, the first time the Red Rifle had thrown three touchdown passes since Nov. 20, 2022, against the Los Angeles Rams.

Pierce accused some team members of making “business decisions” on the field.

“I think as the game went on, certainly some guys made business decisions and we'll continue to make business decisions,” Pierce said.

According to Stathead, the Raiders have lost 59 consecutive games after trailing by 14 or more points at halftime.

“It's terrible. It's not good enough,” Pierce said. “The crowd was ready. Thanks to the crowd, thanks to everyone who came. They did their part. We didn't.”

Pierce, a former New York Giants linebacker, is in his first full season as the Raiders' head coach after taking over on an interim basis after Josh McDaniels was fired last season.
