Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew was replaced by Aidan O'Connell in the third quarter after throwing his second interception of the game in a game that Las Vegas trailed by 10 points to the Broncos and ultimately lost 34-18. I went down to the bench.
Head coach Antonio Pierce's move came after Minshew intercepted a pass intended for receiver Tre Tucker along the sideline.
Instead, Riley Moss recorded his first career interception on the play when he reversed it on the winning side of a jump ball play.
Minshew's first interception of the day came in the red zone on first-and-goal in the second quarter, when his throw into the end zone was picked off and Broncos corner Pat Surtain II ran for a touchdown. I returned it.
Other than the interception, it was a tough day for the Raiders starters, who completed 12 of 17 passes for 137 yards and was sacked twice.
He did score a touchdown pass (a 57-yard TD reception to Brock Bowers), but it wasn't enough to help the Raiders on Sunday.
O'Connell wasn't very good entering the game, going 10-for-20 for 94 yards and one interception.
After the game, Pierce declined to say who will be the starting QB next week.
The Raiders entered Week 5 with a 2-2 record, but have been embroiled in trade rumors ever since it became public that star wide receiver Davante Adams had requested a trade, and has been on his list of preferred destinations. The Jets and Saints were at the top of the list.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Over the weekend, trade talks were expected to intensify next week.
Adams has posted cryptic posts on social media that include images of poet Edgar Allen Poe, leading some to speculate that he might be close to a deal with the Ravens.
He made a second post using a quote from Poe.
“Don't believe anything you hear and don't believe half of what you see,” Adams posted on social media.
