Raiders tight end Brock Bowers performed the “Trump dance” after catching a touchdown pass Sunday, joining the NFL's latest celebration trend. While Bowers and the thousands in the stands and online seemed to be having fun dancing, the Raiders' public relations team might not be so amused.
Bowers presented the Silver and Black after catching a touchdown pass from quarterback Gardner Minshew II in the third quarter of the game against Miami.
After the game, which the Raiders ended up losing 34-19, Bowers was asked about his dance moves.
“I've seen everyone do it,” Bowers was quoted as saying. USA Today. “I watched a UFC fight last night and Jon Jones did it. I like watching UFC, so I thought that was cool to see.”
However, in response to this response, USA Today reported that the Raiders' public relations team has reduced Bowers' media appearances.
Bowers wasn't the only player to perform the Trump dance in Week 11. Detroit defenders Za'Darius Smith and Malcolm Rodriguez also showed off the move.
So did Titans receivers Calvin Ridley and Nick Westbrook-Iquine.
It is unclear at this time whether other athletes were asked about the dance or whether their media appearances were cut short.
