Raiders troll Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs with Kermit doll

The Raiders have been poking bears, or frogs, earlier this year.

A Las Vegas football fan brought a Kermit the Muppet doll to the Raiders’ training camp in Costa Mesa, Calif., and a video circulated on social media Thursday showed defensive back Trey Taylor holding the doll, which was also dressed in Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs jersey.

Mahomes’ voice has long been compared to that of Kermit the Frog, and the three-time Super Bowl champion added to the fun when he was asked to do an imitation of Kermit’s voice before the big game this year.

“I’m just talking right now,” Mahomes said when asked to imitate Kermit.

On Thursday, Taylor held up the doll, much to the delight of fans behind the camera, and moved the doll’s mouth to say in a high-pitched voice, “I’m Patrick.”

Still, at least one person close to Mahomes said the Raiders’ performance this week is one Mahomes will remember.

Mahomes’ personal trainer, Bobby Stroup Quote posted on X and “We will never forget,” she wrote in the caption.

This won’t be the first time the Raiders have taken on an AFC West rival, but the most notable instance came in 2021.

Former Las Vegas defensive end Yannick Ngakoue led his team up to the Chiefs logo at midfield at Arrowhead Stadium before a December 2021 game and delivered an impassioned speech.

But it quickly backfired.

The Chiefs won the game 48-9.

The Raiders beat the Chiefs 20-14 on Christmas Day this year, but Kansas City had the last laugh, winning the Super Bowl.

The two teams will meet for the first time this season in a Week 8 matchup in Las Vegas.
