Reign Michaels Steps Into Reality TV Spotlight

Reign Michaels, 26, daughter of Bret Michaels, is making her mark in the entertainment world. Instead of stepping on stage as a rock singer, she’s now part of the cast of Netflix’s latest reality series.

Calabasas Confidential launched today, featuring Reign and her friends from the upscale California neighborhood famously linked to the Kardashians. As one of the few cast members with a family legacy, she plays a surprisingly grounded role, often acting as a calming presence in the show’s more chaotic moments.

This isn’t Reign’s first experience with reality television. Growing up, she was part of the VH1 series Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It, which captured her father’s struggles to balance his rock star lifestyle with fatherhood. Before that, Bret also starred in Rock of Love, where he was pursued by a group of women vying for his affection. Reign humorously recounted her father’s advice as she began her own reality journey, noting, “He told me, ‘Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,’ which honestly wasn’t the best advice since he did quite a lot.” She chuckled, adding, “But he also said, ‘Just be yourself and hope people love you.’

Having landed her first modeling gig with Sports Illustrated at the age of 18, Reign has spent much of this season pondering her future career. Will she stick to modeling? Explore sports broadcasting? Or perhaps, venture into something different like selling foot photos? Each option holds potential, and it’s clear that whatever she decides, her father’s backing is unwavering.

In one episode, she candidly discusses the pressure she feels stemming from her father’s early rise to fame. “It’s inspiring to see what he has achieved,” she said, “but he was pretty wild at my age.” Reflecting on his packed arenas, she shared, “There’s definitely a mix of nerves and excitement about committing fully to something.”

When asked about being labeled a “nepo baby,” Reign shrugged it off, explaining that it’s simply a “funny modern twist” on terminology.

“My dad always told me, ‘I’ll open the door for you. I can put your foot in the door, but it’s up to you to keep it open,'” she shared. “He can only get me so far; I have to take it from there. He constantly encourages my sister and me to pursue our dreams wholeheartedly.”
