Rep. Ralph Norman Prepares for Senate Runoff in South Carolina
In an exclusive interview, Rep. Ralph Norman, a Republican from South Carolina, expressed his readiness to compete in the upcoming Senate runoff elections set for August 25. He emphasized the urgency of addressing national issues and branded himself as a recognized entity among voters in South Carolina.
“We are facing a financial crisis, along with the threats of socialism and communism. It’s not just about debt or the SAVE America Act. The institutions, particularly the U.S. Senate, have hindered good legislation. We can’t afford to tolerate that any longer,” Norman stated during the interview.
When discussing his core beliefs, he mentioned, “First and foremost, I stand firm on the Constitution. People often question my agenda, and I tell them it’s the SAVE Act. If we don’t ensure safe and secure elections, we cease to be a republic.”
Norman acknowledged his opponent, Sen. Darling Graham Nordone, calling her a “good person,” but he criticized the Washington elite who back her campaign.
“Darling is more of an unknown. I’m a familiar name. Organizations like Heritage, Gun Owners of America, and Turning Point USA support me, which has helped me gain a strong ranking. I have endorsements from Rick Scott, Mike Lee, Jim DeMint, and Mark Meadows, while she has Lisa Murkowski—who, by the way, was the first Republican to oppose the SAVE Act,” he explained.
Having been elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in a special election in 2017, Norman is a steadfast member of the House Freedom Caucus. He currently holds a perfect rating from Heritage Action and boasts a lifetime score of 98 percent.
“My real battle isn’t with Darling; it’s against the socialists and communists threatening our country. This election isn’t pivotal solely because of me, but I’m thankful to be part of it. The political establishment will likely spend a significant amount trying to undermine me, but I welcome that challenge. We are the qualified candidates with proven records, and that is my strength,” he asserted.
Former President Donald Trump has thrown his support behind Graham Nordon in this election. Recently, Trump reiterated his endorsement, affirming to voters that he is fully behind her. He also mentioned that Congressman Russell Frey, who secured a third-place finish in the recent primary, is now endorsing the incumbent.
“President Trump needs a Senate ally who is a fighter and dedicated to delivering results, and I believe that Darin Graham fits that bill,” Frye shared on social media.
Norman, for his part, indicated he would not waver in his support for former Governor Nikki Haley in the 2024 presidential primary, remaining loyal to a longtime friend. He noted that even Trump’s relationship with the late Senator Lindsey Graham had its complexities.
“Ultimately, I’m enthusiastic about this race and how my record holds up against Mr. Darling’s performance,” Norman concluded, pointing out that a significant portion of the upcoming six-year term will unfold after Trump exits office.
