Ramaswamy files campaign paperwork for anticipated Ohio governor bid

Former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy officially began the process of running for Ohio governor after submitting the necessary documents to Ohio Secretary on Friday.

Ramaswamy's campaign submitted a designation of treasurer that the candidate's campaign or political party must submit before it makes any spending or receives contributions.

A formal registration has been submitted for the Ramaswamy political committee, using the name “Vivek Ramaswamy, Ohio.”

however Submit Although he has not directly stated the governor's run, Ramaswamy has strongly suggested running for governor of Ohio in the 2026 election.

This development comes about a month after Ramaswamy left President Trump's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Ramaswamy's famous profile from the 2024 presidential election made him famous. Recent polls suggest that Ohio Republicans will support him in the 2026 election.

Ramaswamy has never won an election as a candidate and has no experience in serving in an elected office. However, he received prominent approval from Ohio treasurer Robert Sprague, and was prominently supported by Officer Rick Scott (R-FLA.) and Marsha Blackburn (R-Ten).

Meanwhile, some of Vice President Vance's key advisors have recently joined the Ramaswamy team. This could indicate possible approval from Vance or Trump. However, Ramaswamy may have to compete with other candidates with established political ties in Ohio.

Current Ohio Governor Mike DeWine (R) is a limited period and cannot be executed again as he began his term in 2019.
