Rams Boost Defense with McCreary Acquisition
The Rams are returning from their bye week with a new addition to their defense.
They’re set to bring in cornerback Roger McCreary from the Titans in exchange for a conditional pick swap in 2026 ahead of the upcoming NFL trade deadline. The Titans made this announcement on Monday.
Los Angeles will send a conditional fifth-round pick in 2026 to Tennessee while receiving a conditional sixth-round pick in return.
McCreary, who is 25, was initially drafted in the second round from Auburn in 2022, and he’s currently in the final year of his rookie deal.
So far this season, McCreary has recorded 21 solo tackles, one sack, and one interception, marking the third interception of his career.
The Rams and Titans are heading in very different directions lately. Los Angeles just secured their fifth win of the season, beating the Jaguars 35-7 in London.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford had a stellar performance, throwing five touchdowns, three of which were caught by wide receiver Davante Adams.
Currently, the Rams share the top spot in the NFC West with a 5-2 record, alongside the Seahawks, who are also coming off a bye.
In contrast, the Titans have struggled, falling to a 1-7 record after a 38-14 loss to the Colts, who are now sitting pretty at 7-1.
It’s worth noting that Cam Ward, the Titans’ first overall pick from this year’s draft, threw for one touchdown and one interception during the Week 8 loss, but frustrations were evident, especially when interim coach Mike McCoy decided to punt on fourth-and-3 from the Colts’ 43-yard line early in the second half.
McCoy has lost five of his first six games this season and is now 0-2 since stepping in for Brian Callahan, who was dismissed earlier this month. One of those defeats was a 33-19 loss to the Rams in Week 2.
The NFL trade deadline is set for next Tuesday at 4 p.m.
