Rob Havenstein Retires from the Rams After Eleven Seasons

Rob Havenstein, the Rams’ veteran right tackle, shared on social media Tuesday that he is retiring after an impressive eleven seasons with the team.

Drafted in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Wisconsin, Havenstein joined the Rams during a challenging time under head coach Jeff Fisher. Back then, the Rams were still in St. Louis, and success seemed a distant goal.

Throughout his career, he endured various coaching changes, team relocations, and significant upheavals but emerged as a cornerstone of the franchise’s modern era. Interestingly, when Sean McVay took over as head coach and transformed the team’s identity, Havenstein simply maintained his game without needing to change his approach.

McVay praised him recently, stating, “He’s the greatest Ram of all time. He’s a legendary player—more importantly, a legendary human being.”

Winning the Super Bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021 was the pinnacle of Havenstein’s career. While the championship was built on star talent, players like Havenstein—who kept the right side secure alongside Andrew Whitworth—played an essential role. Championships often hinge on reliable linemen holding their ground when things get tough.

What really sets Havenstein apart is his remarkable durability. In ten of his eleven seasons, he managed to play a minimum of 97% of the snaps available to him. For example, he completed all 1,100 offensive snaps in 2016 and repeated this impressive feat with 1,018 snaps in 2022. Yet, an ankle injury sidelined him for just seven games in 2025.

Now, this transition comes shortly after Jared Stafford confirmed he would return for the 2026 season, making the timing a bit challenging. Moving forward, it seems Warren McClendon Jr. is in line to step up as the starting right tackle next season.

General manager Les Snead recently spoke about McClendon’s growth, noting, “He’s a success story. This year, when Rob was dealing with injuries, he worked on trades, honed his skills, and made the most of his opportunities.” He added, “He certainly did that.”
