The Los Angeles Rams suffered a tough loss on Sunday, falling to the Arizona Cardinals with a close score of 18-16. That was definitely disappointing.
Then came the even worse news: star receiver Davante Adams will be sidelined for 6-10 weeks due to a hamstring injury.
That was particularly damaging.
To add to their troubles, the Rams are now in a serious predicament with their defensive line.
Rams head coach Sean McVay shared grim injury updates on Tuesday, revealing that defensive tackle Poona Ford has ruptured his triceps and will be out for the remainder of the season. Additionally, defensive end Kobie Turner is expected to miss 4-6 weeks because of a groin injury, as reported by Michael Duarte.
While losing Adams is significant, fans of the Rams understand just how crucial Ford and Turner have been for the team’s defense in these first six games.
This is especially concerning since the Rams’ defensive line has already been hit hard by injuries. Star edge rusher Myles Garrett has been absent for the last five games due to a knee injury, and it’s unclear when he might be back.
Also, Aaron Donald had previously missed a game this season with a back issue, and he’s still trying to regain his form following a two-year retirement.
Garrett has already been ruled out for the upcoming Week 7 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
With Garrett away and both Ford and Turner out for an extended period, Los Angeles may need to explore external options to reinforce their struggling defensive line.
This season, Ford has recorded six solo tackles, and he’s been one of the key players against the run. Turner has been active on the field as well, accumulating seven solo tackles, 15 assisted tackles, and two passes defended.
