Rand Paul shares Fauci diaries showing initial worries about lab leak

Sen. Ron Johnson Criticizes Fauci Over Pandemic Management

Senator Ron Johnson from Wisconsin has called Dr. Anthony Fauci a “megalomaniac” and labeled him a “notorious villain.” This follows the release of Fauci’s personal diary, in which Johnson argues that Fauci knowingly funded gain-of-function research, contradicted his statements on COVID-19’s origins, and favored experimental vaccines over earlier treatments, among other controversies. Johnson insists on the need for full accountability regarding Fauci’s actions during the pandemic.

On Tuesday, Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky made public Fauci’s private diary, shedding light on the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and his role as the government’s leading voice during the COVID-19 crisis.

The diary entries reveal Fauci’s private concerns about the virus’s origins, which he had previously downplayed in public discussions. Notably, an entry from January 31, 2020, indicates that scientists were contemplating the idea of the virus being intentionally manipulated, despite Fauci’s later differing statements. He also raised doubts about the capabilities of the CDC and FDA, acknowledged that officials had overstated the effectiveness of masks, and flagged failures related to testing and supply.

Throughout his tenure, Fauci maintained a record of conversations, decisions, and his reflections on various actions taken by political figures and health officials. Paul portrayed this release as a historical account of Fauci’s pandemic response. He remarked that Fauci took pride in gaining positive attention from mainstream media while disparaging those who challenged the official narrative, referring to their contentious exchanges in Congressional hearings.

Paul noted that Fauci’s diary entries often contradict the official stance promoted by him and other health authorities. The alarm regarding the virus’s origins appeared to reach Fauci and other medical professionals before the broader public became aware of the possibility of a laboratory leak.
