Randy Moss a ‘cancer survivor’ after scary ESPN health absence

Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss revealed on an Instagram livestream Friday that he recently battled cancer.

“Your son is a cancer survivor,” Moss declared. “I was in the hospital for 6 days. I just came out today. Thank God!

The former NFL superstar thanked the doctors, nurses and fans who showed him love throughout his recovery.

“I felt all the prayers coming out of it,” he said. “Prayer warriors and teammates, I saw the everting you tweeted for me. All prayers. I wish you all the best.”

He promised to return to ESPN's “Sunday NFL Countdown” as soon as he recovers and is able to return to the studio.

“I did have cancer,” he said. “They found it in the intestinal tract between the pancreas and the liver. So the doctors… they admitted me and I had a six-hour surgery. Dr. Martini, you're the one, I underwent Whipple surgery and I am forever grateful.

“Please believe that your son made it out okay.”

He didn't answer any questions on the broadcast, but appeared to slam Larry Fitzgerald Sr., the father of former Cardinals star Larry Fitzgerald, and former NFL quarterback Brett Favre. Both men posted on X on Tuesday that Moss had died. He was diagnosed with liver cancer.

“I told everyone I'm going through something and I need your prayers,” Moss said. “There were some people here who were not doctors but were trying to become doctors.”

Moss' message came after his son Thaddeus on Wednesday shut down reports that the NFL great had been diagnosed with the illness.

December 6th, ESPN announced Moss is stepping away from his role as an ESPN analyst “for an extended period of time to focus on his personal health challenges,” the statement said.

This came after Moss said during “Sunday NFL Countdown” on Dec. 1 that he was “battling something inside of me” and asked for prayers.

“I ask all you prayer warriors to bless me and my family as we go through this difficult time. And last week people were talking about my eyes,” Moss said. said in the video before donning sunglasses. Post to Instagram. “If you see me wearing this…I'm fighting something, it's internal. Your son will get through it. I have a great team of doctors and I'm surrounded by a great family. Men, please get a medical checkup and blood test.

Moss didn't reveal the specific illness, but captioned the post, “Go get tested!!” Prayer warriors, I need you,” and four emojis.

ESPN said Moss has the network's full support during this period and “looks forward to returning when he is ready.”
