Tyreek Hill is certainly making his mark as one of the leading wide receivers in the NFL today, but Randy Moss, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, isn’t too keen on placing him among the all-time greats. Recently, Moss made headlines by asserting that Hill doesn’t belong in the conversation about legendary receivers.
In an interview, Moss remarked, “He’s not anywhere before,” when asked about Hill’s rankings. He acknowledged that Tyreek is within the top five currently, admitting, “I put him in the top five.” But that’s where his praise seemed to stop.
Moss clearly respects Hill’s talent, yet he appears to draw a line when it comes to historical significance, saying, “Is that a real question?” in response to inquiries about his own status among the best ever. He highlighted the difference between political correctness—the kind of standard response that mentions figures like Jerry Rice—and what he considered real football talk.
For his part, Hill has earned a reputation as a top receiver for several seasons, notably during his time with the Kansas City Chiefs. He burst onto the scene as a Pro Bowler in his rookie year of 2016, and that high performance has largely continued through the present.
As of 2024, Hill has reached over 1,200 receiving yards for four consecutive seasons. This particular year, he amassed 959 yards on 81 receptions, contributing six touchdowns. Prior to this, in the previous season, he led the league with 1,799 yards and received 13 touchdowns, showcasing his speed and ability to create space with quick route running, attributes that have enabled quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes and Tua Tagovailoa to make remarkable plays.
Looking at his career stats, Hill currently ranks 42nd for receiving yards with 11,098, stands at 30th for touchdowns with 82, and also at 42nd for receptions overall. While he certainly has impressive numbers, the debate about his place in history continues to unfold, especially with opinions like Moss’s shaping the conversation.
