Randy Moss is coming back to ESPN full-time after battling cancer.

Randy Moss is gearing up to return to ESPN following his recent battle with cancer.

ESPN confirmed via a statement from Andrew Marchand on Tuesday that the 48-year-old will rejoin the network full-time this fall after taking time off for health reasons during the latter part of 2024, which included stepping back from “Sunday NFL Countdown.”

“Randy’s Super Bowl Sunday return was an uplifting moment not just for our team but for the entire football community. Knowing he’ll be back for the full ‘Sunday NFL Countdown’ lineup starting from week one is definitely a bright spot of the offseason,” the network shared.

Moss, a Hall of Fame wide receiver, had taken a break since December, during which he requested prayers while dealing with health issues. Shortly after that, ESPN announced he would indefinitely leave “Sunday NFL Countdown.”

Later that same month, he revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer and had undergone surgery when doctors found something in the intestinal area between the pancreas and liver.

“I felt all the prayers that were out there,” Moss commented. “You pray for warriors—my teammates. I’ve seen everything you guys tweeted at me. All those prayers meant a lot.”

Moss had appeared on ESPN during the Super Bowl in February 2025, joining his colleagues Rex Ryan, Alex Smith, Teddy Bruski, and Mike Greenberg. He became emotional as he filmed a welcome-back video.

“Yeah, I know I’m the big crybaby here,” he acknowledged. “I can’t do this alone, and I’m really grateful… It was tough, but I have a lot of support and people who believe in me. So, I’m really happy to be here.”

A six-time Pro Bowler and four-time first-team All-Pro, Moss enjoyed a 14-season career in the NFL, primarily recognized for his time with the Vikings and the Patriots, though he also played for the Raiders, Titans, and 49ers.

The 2025 NFL season is set to kick off on Thursday, September 4, with the first batch of Sunday games scheduled for September 7.
