The Rangers are getting in on the fun at the NHL trade deadline.
The Blueshirts have acquired center Alex Wennberg from the Kraken on Wednesday, the team announced.
They would send Seattle their own 2024 second-round pick and a conditional 2025 fourth-round pick that originally belonged to the Stars.
The Kraken reportedly retains the other half of Wennberg’s $4.5 million salary.
The 29-year-old Swede has scored nine goals and scored 25 points in 60 games this season.
In 693 NHL games between Seattle and Columbus, he scored 90 goals and 330 points.
He will help fill the holes in the offense left by injuries to Filip Sitil and Blake Wheeler.
A high-end passer with good skating and a 200-foot game, Wennberg will likely fit on the Rangers’ third line and brings 42 games of playoff experience.
Wennberg, who is 6-foot-2 and weighs 190 pounds, is in the final season of a three-year, $13.5 million contract that will make him a free agent after the season.
The NHL trade deadline is Friday, March 8th at 3pm ET.
