Rangers decide not to offer a contract to two-time All-Star Adolis García

Adris Garcia No Longer a Ranger

Adris Garcia’s time as a Ranger has come to an end. Following a lackluster 2025 season, the team opted to rescind Garcia’s tender just before Friday’s deadline.

Last season was tough for Garcia, who managed a career-low .227/.271/.394, hitting 19 home runs. The previous year wasn’t much better either, with a batting line of .224/.284/.400 and 25 homers. Not ideal, really.

In addition to Garcia, the Rangers also chose not to tender contracts to catcher Jonah Heim and pitchers Josh Sborz and Jacob Webb.

Chris Young, the Rangers’ President of Baseball Operations, expressed gratitude toward the players affected by these decisions. He noted that, regardless of what the future holds, Adris, Jonah, and Josh will be remembered for their contributions during the franchise’s first World Series victory. Those moments seem to resonate really well with the fans.

Reflecting on Garcia’s journey, it’s notable that just two seasons ago, he was shining as one of baseball’s standout hitters. In 2023, he posted an .836 OPS, led with 39 home runs, and brought in 107 RBIs, making his second All-Star appearance and snagging a Gold Glove Award. He was almost a superhero, especially after being named MVP of the American League Championship Series while showcasing stellar postseason stats.

Right now, he was likely looking at around $12 million in arbitration. With the Rangers having struggled for two seasons since their championship win—finishing third in the American League West and missing the playoffs—they seem ready to shake things up this offseason.
