Rangers fans go nuts celebrating thrilling Game 3 win in Central Park

Central Park was the site of a dramatic 5-4 overtime win over the Panthers on Sunday afternoon to take a 2-1 series lead in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Fans at the Blueshirts’ viewing party in Central Park erupted in cheers when Alex Wennberg scored the game-winning goal 5 minutes, 35 seconds into overtime.

The event, held at the Summer Stage, drew a large crowd of Rangers fans who did everything from jumping and cheering to lifting fellow fans into the air in celebration.

Similar scenes were played out across the area, including video from a bar showing fans in Rangers jerseys going wild as the decisive goal was scored.

The Empire State Building has joined the movement, Lighting up the Rangers’ red, white and blue Sunday night to celebrate the victory.

Game 3 marked the first of the series to be held in Florida after Games 1 and 2 were held at MSG earlier this week.

The Panthers rallied from behind twice during Sunday’s game, scoring two goals in the third period to overturn a 4-2 Florida lead.

The winning goal came when the Rangers won the puck on a faceoff draw in the offensive zone and Ryan Lindgren’s shot from the point hit Wennberg and went into the net.

“It was an explosion of energy, an explosion of all emotions, which is great of course,” Wennberg said of the goal.

Sunday’s game was the second straight overtime game in the series, with the second game on Friday needing extra time and Barclay Goodrow being the hero that night.

The Rangers have a chance to take a 3-1 series lead Tuesday in Game 4 at Amerant Bank Arena.
