Texans really love their Yankees history.
The plaque commemorating the spot where Aaron Judge hit his historic 62nd home run at Globe Life Field in 2022 has been stolen twice and will not be reinstalled. According to Yankees announcer Justin Shakir:.
The plaque was reportedly replaced after the first hijacking but Rangers appear not to have felt the need to restore it and there is now just an empty slot with what appears to be glue in front of seat 3, row 1, section 31 in the left-field stand.
Judge made history at Rangers Stadium on Oct. 4, 2022, when he hit a home run off Jesus Tinoco in the top of the first inning to break a Roger Maris tie and set an American League record.
Texas decided to celebrate the momentous occasion with a memorial placed on a raised concrete block in front of where the ball landed. As shown in an April 2023 tweet:.
The plaque is entitled “The Judge's Seat.”

“On October 4, 2022, in the second game of a doubleheader at Globe Life Field, New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge hit his 62nd home run of the season, tying an American League record that had stood since 1961,” the plaque reads. “As leadoff batter in the top of the first inning, Judge hit the monumental home run that landed here off of Rangers' Jesus Tinoco.”
The plaque may now be treasured as a keepsake in someone's basement, but the owner may want to keep quiet about its ownership.
Judge arrived in Texas this week having hit 51 home runs this season, but after going scoreless through seven games on Monday night, he'll likely need a historic run of success to match that mark.
The slugger had one hit and one RBI in Monday's 8-4 win over the Rangers, giving him no home runs in 27 at-bats and 33 appearances.
He needs 11 home runs in 24 games to tie his own record and 12 to set a new record.
