Sam Carrick did not see the movie, but he was in it.
So it's understandable that the Rangers center by way of Edmonton is in no rush to watch the Amazon Prime series “Faceoff: Inside the NHL.” The final two episodes of the six-part series focus on the Stanley Cup Final. The Oilers trailed 3-0 to tie the series before losing to Florida in seven games.
“I definitely lived it. I don't want to see the last episode, Game 7. It's definitely going to be a tough game,” said the signing from Anaheim on deadline before signing a one-year free agent contract. Carrick said. “Obviously, I saw cameras in there almost every day. I'm sure there was a lot of really, really great content.”
Connor McDavid was caught on camera ranting in his room after the Game 2 loss in Florida.
Cameras captured the club's devastation after Game 7.
“There's a lot of raw moments that the fans don't get to see. They're really passionate people and they really care,” Carrick told the Post. “The cameras were there for a little while after we lost, so I think we eventually kicked them out, but they were definitely there for a good portion of the time.”
“Yes, it sucks, but that’s part of it. You realize how difficult it is to get there and you don’t get that opportunity every day, and you want to make the most of it.
“It's definitely difficult to ask a question that you already know the answer to, right? 'Yes, that sucks, what does it feel like?'”
Carrick, a 32-year-old veteran who began his NHL career with Toronto 10 years ago, is looking for a new opportunity.

Essentially, he's Barclay Goodrow's replacement. He will be the centerpiece of a fourth line that is expected to feature sky-high rookie wingers Matt Lempe and Adam Edstrom.
He and Riley Smith are the only two players remaining in camp who were not with the organization last year. There will be an adjustment period.
“There's definitely some differences, but I'm still getting used to it,” said Carrick, who played in 10 playoff games and one finals game with Edmonton. “But I feel like I'm getting more comfortable every day.”
Igor Shesterkin will appear in his first official game of the preseason when the Blueshirts take on the Islanders at UBS Arena on Friday.
The goaltender played a total of 59:43 in the two games, allowing four goals on 32 shots.
Brennan Osman will skate on the left side alongside Vincent Trocheck and Alexis Lafreniere in the absence of injured Artemi Panarin.
He will be the only Ranger to compete in all six exhibition contests.
He is in the long run.
“If you’re still here, you deserve recognition. [Friday] This is an opportunity for him and that line is going to be together, so it's an opportunity for him to continue to make his mark in training camp,” head coach Peter Laviolette said. “Like a lot of players, I don't think everything was at its peak all the time, and that's about all the players we can talk about.
“I think there have been some really good things and things that we've talked about with him and shown him that we want him to get better. A lot of players fit into that category. He is a talented player who can make plays and score points.
“His evaluation process is still ongoing.”
