Kidnapping of Savannah Guthrie’s Mother
Reports indicate that individuals claiming to have abducted Nancy Guthrie, the elderly mother of NBC News host Savannah Guthrie, are demanding a ransom of $6 million.
A dealership in Tucson received a ransom note detailing the demand, which required payment by Monday of this week, according to a report from KGUN9. This information was also shared by other media sources.
The kidnappers allegedly requested the ransom to be paid in Bitcoin.
Nancy Guthrie, aged 84, was last seen at her home in suburban Tucson on the evening of January 31, and has been missing since noon on February 1. Law enforcement is treating her disappearance as a criminal investigation, as reported by Breitbart News.
Police vehicles were observed at Nancy’s residence following multiple ransom demands sent to various media organizations.
A deadline for the ransom was reportedly set for Monday at 5 PM, with concerns that her life might be endangered if the demand is not met. In a message posted Saturday, Savannah and her siblings pleaded for their mother’s safe return, expressing their willingness to pay, emphasizing that it was the only way they might find peace.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office stated that the investigation continues, but there are currently no suspects or persons of interest identified.
Days after Nancy’s disappearance, President Donald Trump conveyed that he had been in contact with Savannah, and stated that he was directing all federal law enforcement agencies to aid in the search for her mother.
In a social media post, Trump wrote, “I spoke with Savannah Guthrie and informed her that I am directing all federal and local law enforcement agencies to take immediate and complete action. We are dedicating every resource to bringing her mother home safely. Our nation’s prayers are with her and her family. God bless and protect Nancy!”
The FBI has announced a reward of $50,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction related to Nancy Guthrie’s case, as investigations continue. Additionally, President Trump suggested that federal involvement might soon yield some answers.
