There will be a new cowboy right after the epic Western drama “Yellowstone” ending as Josh Duhamel stars in the new Netflix series “Ransom Canyon,” which premieres on Thursday, April 17th.
When asked how he felt about being the next TV cowboy to take over Kevin Costner in “Yellowstone,” Duhamel, 52, joked, “It’s not living too much! Kevin is a man.”
He explained to Costner that he had met “several times at Pebble Beach Golf Tournaments over the years.”
“Yellowstone” wasn’t too hearty in his mind while filming “Ransom Cannon.”
“I don’t know if I see it that way. I love this world. I love the characters,” he said.
“I think April Blair is a great writer and showrunner. There’s an incredible cast, and that’s really what I’ve seen. [legend]. ”
Like Netflix’s predecessor, Bridgerton, the show is based on a series of romance novels. The Western drama set in Texas follows Staten Kirkland (DuHamel), a ranch rancher who is bitter and saddened after losing his family. Local dancehall owner Quinn (Minka Kelly) is in a love triangle with Staten and his rival Davis Collins (Eoin McKen), but they have to fight against a larger force than they want the land.
Duhamel has done rom-com with many action film roles (“Transformers”) like 2022’s “Shotgun Wedding” with Jennifer Lopez in 2022, but “Ransom Canyon” combines action, romance and cowboy fares to show a new type of role.
“I’ve never actually done anything like this,” he posted.
“This is a guy about protecting family heritage and land and passing through generations.”
Duhamel has two sons. Axl, 11, shares with his ex-wife, singer Fergie (who was married from 2009 to 2019) and his 1-year-old son Shepherd.
The North Dakota-born actor said he is related to the “Ransom Canyon” character’s emphasis on family heritage.
He added that he thinks that’s all about Staten Kilkan. “Kirkland is a broken man. He has been through it in the past few years when he lost his wife and son, and it was an interesting way to start the show.
The former “Las Vegas” has something to do with how Staten Kirkland is saying. [but] There is nothing but good intentions. ”
He had to learn cowboy skills for the show, but Duhamel is not used to life outside of Hollywood as he owns a home in North Dakota.
“It’s a cabin in a lake forest, everything is 40 miles away. It’s quite far away, but very peaceful and good for the soul,” he explained.
“I love it there. I think there’s something about reconnecting naturally, reconnecting the basics, getting enough wood for the fire and ensuring that there’s enough food to survive,” he continued. “We’re not at risk of starvation, but you really have to plan it. You run around to 7=even and get what you need. We’ll stay there for months.
The “Life We Know” star continued. “I didn’t need it, I went out there and started building this place, shaping it and coming up with something we wanted to do.
