Rapper Young Thug’s attorney, Brian Steele, was arrested on Monday for contempt of court and sentenced to 10 weeks in the Fulton County Jail.
“I want you to tell me how you got that information and if you don’t I will hold you in contempt,” Judge Ural Granville can be heard telling Steele in a video posted to YouTube by Law & Crime Trials.

“No disrespect to you, but this is a very sacred conversation and one that has been repeated to you and others in my courtroom. It is that serious,” Judge Glanville added. Judge Steele responded, “Yes, that’s why I raised this issue. It’s that serious, that’s why we should have been there and it shouldn’t have happened.”
After some further back and forth, Judge Glanville said: “The question is, who are you – how did you get this information?”
“I understand the issues, I promise you, I do. But what I’m asking is, if you look at Common Five, this is how I understand the law,” Steele said, but the judge interrupted him, saying, “You can’t use the privilege to violate something.”
“I didn’t violate anything!” Steele yelled.
After some further back and forth, Judge Granville said: “Okay, so I’m going to hold you for contempt,” adding: “You can’t eavesdrop and get information that you shouldn’t have heard at the time.”
Judge Glanville appeared annoyed by Steele’s refusal to say how he found out about the meeting between the judge, prosecutors and the state’s key witness.
After questioning again about “who had provided the information”, Judge Glanville found Steele guilty of contempt of court.
“I am not going to discuss this matter further with you,” the judge said. “You are remanded in custody at this point,” he added. “Your motion for a mistrial is denied.”
Steele is reportedly set to spend 20 days in custody following an unexpected exchange with Judge Granville about a secret meeting with the prosecutor and one of the prosecution’s witnesses.
