Rush Slater’s Contract Extension Draws Mixed Reactions

The ex-wife of Los Angeles Chargers lineman Rashawn Slater expressed her discontent with how a social media post announced his recent contract extension. This came shortly after Slater signed a four-year extension with the Chargers, reportedly entailing a $29 million signing bonus, potentially totalling up to $144 million—making him the highest-paid lineman in NFL history.

An NFL social media account, run by Dov Kleiman, commented that Slater’s divorce was recent and suggested that his timing in securing the contract was “good.” In response, Slater’s ex-wife, Stacy Brown, took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice her concerns.

“This is sad. I only have Rashawn’s support,” she stated. “His contract is not about me. I think we should focus on the most important thing here. That’s his career and his success. Stop including me in this story. He deserves his moment.”

Interestingly, this was Brown’s first engagement on social media in a while. She and Slater married in 2022 but have recently finalized their divorce, although the specific timeline remains unclear.

Kleiman’s account has yet to respond to Brown’s remarks. Slater was chosen as the 13th overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft and quickly proved his worth, earning a Pro Bowl selection during his rookie season. Despite an injury that limited his play to just three games in 2022, he rebounded strongly in 2023 and achieved another Pro Bowl appearance last season.
