The first touchdown of the 2024 NFL season was scored by Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry.
Henry, on his first drive of his first game with the Ravens against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday, capped Baltimore's 70-yard opening drive with a 5-yard rush at the goal line that led into the end zone.

Henry signed a two-year contract with the Ravens in March. The former league MVP and two-time NFL rushing leader will join two-time MVP Lamar Jackson in the Ravens backfield as they lead the league in rushing in 2023.
Henry's touchdown on the opening drive could herald one of the most dynamic rushing attacks in the NFL.

Henry, 30, has already put in a lot of miles. He has played the fifth-most snaps among running backs since entering the league in 2016 and will likely surpass 4,000 regular-season snaps on Thursday night. There are 64 running backs who have played at least 1,500 snaps in that same span.

But this is Henry's first year running the shotgun offense, so it may take some time for him to settle in. Baltimore running backs coach Willie Taggart said he was a little nervous about Henry using the shotgun offense, but that's what he thought after watching practice.

The Ravens' offensive line shakeup (replacing three starters) could also affect Henry's running production, but he still racked up over 1,000 yards on the ground last season behind a struggling Titans offensive line.
