Ravens' Lamar Jackson skips practice due to ankle injury

Lamar Jackson’s Ankle Injury Update

Lamar Jackson sat out of practice on Wednesday due to an ankle injury.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh indicated that this situation is similar to last week when Jackson did not practice on Wednesday but still played against the Browns. The key difference now is the ankle issue; last week, it was a sore knee.

Harbaugh mentioned it would be advantageous for Jackson to practice.

This season, Jackson has missed three games because of a hamstring injury.

Interestingly, Jackson did return to practice last Thursday after missing the previous Wednesday, so how he practices this Thursday could signal his readiness for Sunday’s game against the Jets.

On the Jets’ side, coach Aaron Glenn spoke about Jackson’s significance for the Ravens during a recent press conference.

“If you look at Baltimore, they’re an organization that many try to follow because of their operational methods,” Glenn said. “Lamar and Derrick [Henry] are standout players, and their presence is critical for creating opportunities, particularly for Zai [Flowers] in the passing game.”

Jackson isn’t the only key player sidelined in Baltimore; safety Kyle Hamilton (shoulder, groin), linebacker Roquan Smith (hamstring), and left tackle Ronnie Stanley (illness) also missed practice.

Meanwhile, the Jets are planning to start Tyrod Taylor at quarterback this week, although fans are eager to see rookie Brady Cook, an undrafted free agent from Missouri, make his debut.

Glenn acknowledged that Cook is still a work in progress. “He’s still growing,” he said. “We had a clear plan for him, and we want to ensure we handle his development properly. We’ll see how things unfold as the season continues. For now, Tyrod remains our starter.”

Additionally, DE Will McDonald IV (quad) and DT Harrison Phillips (quad) were also absent from practice on Wednesday, but Glenn expects them both to be ready for Sunday. On a positive note, CB Azaleye Thomas practiced and is likely to exit concussion protocol soon.
