The pregame hype about Ravens tight end Mark Andrews backfired spectacularly on Sunday, as a costly drop by snow-covered Buffalo put the final nail in the coffin for Baltimore's season, leading to a Div. They lost the round 27-25.
The post, originally shared on the Ravens' X account before kickoff Sunday night, showed Andrews warming up as snow fell on the field at Highmark Stadium.
“@Mandrews_81 doesn't mind a little snow,” the message said.
The weather only got worse from there as the Bills and Ravens battled it out in the frigid temperatures for a spot in the AFC Championship Game.
With Baltimore trailing 27-19 late in the fourth, star quarterback Lamar Jackson completed an eight-play, 88-yard touchdown drive that brought the Ravens within two points.
Looking for a two-point conversion, Jackson focused on an open Andrews, but Andrews dropped the ball as he tried to cross the plane.
The Ravens then attempted an onside kick, but the Bills recovered it and quarterback Josh Allen took a knee to end the game.
Andrews' devastating drop followed an earlier fumble by one of Jackson's most reliable targets.
“This was a team effort,” Jackson said after the game. According to NFL.com. “He continues to break down his body. We couldn't make plays happen on that field for us.”
Ravens coach Jim Harbaugh also endorsed the three-time Pro Bowler afterward, saying, “We wouldn't be here without Mark Andrews.”
Andrews, 29, did not speak to the media after the game.
A third-round pick out of Oklahoma in 2018, Andrews has spent his entire career with the Ravens and was named first-team All-Pro in 2021.
Andrews finished the 2024 regular season with 55 receptions, 673 yards, and 11 touchdowns through 17 games.
The Bills will now travel to Kansas City to face the reigning champion Chiefs in next Sunday's AFC title game with a spot in the 2025 Super Bowl on the line.
The Ravens, the top seed in the AFC in 2024, lost at home to the Chiefs in the conference championship last January.
