It didn't take long for drama to erupt during the NFL season.
There seems to be some animosity between the two top AFC teams at the moment.
After the Chiefs' thrilling season-opening win over the Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday night, Baltimore linebacker Roquan Smith said Hendershot “better be careful” after he and Chiefs guard Peyton Hendershot got into an altercation on the sideline in the fourth quarter.
The contest began with just under 12 minutes left in the final quarter, with the Chiefs driving for third down and three yards.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes did just that, scrambling left and slipping through the sticks for a first down, then sprinting across the line and out of bounds for the score.
Mahomes, who was already out of bounds, was pushed by Smith, sending the quarterback to the ground.
No flag was issued for the late hit out of bounds.
Either way, Hendershot, who was not in uniform for the game, shoved Smith on the Chiefs' sideline and appeared to take several steps toward him, resulting in a tense moment between the two teams.
After the game, Smith was asked about the incident and said Mahomes acted badly.
“He failed, yes, he failed.” Smith told reporters about Mahomes.“So the umpire didn't make a no-call. It was a great no-call by the umpire.”
But then Smith turned his attention to Hendershot.
“Anyone [number] “Number 88, I don't know who it is, but you better watch out. He gave me a little sneaky push,” Smith added.
“You can meet them when you meet them.”
Smith recorded a team-high seven tackles and an interception, but Mahomes and the Chiefs had the laugh in the end with an emotional win.
