Tampa Bay Rays Pull Off Thrilling Extra Innings Win Against Brewers

The Tampa Bay Rays aren’t done just yet; they fought back in a gripping Game 4 to defeat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 with a two-run rally in the 13th inning.

The Brewers were on the brink of claiming their first-ever World Series title. After 22-year-old Cooper Pratt put them ahead with a solo home run in the top of the 13th, it seemed like a celebration was only three outs away.

However, thanks to an error that allowed Junior Caminero to get on base to start the inning, the Rays found new life. Liam Hicks followed up with a single that advanced Caminero to third, setting the stage for Jonny DeLuca—who wasn’t about to let the Brewers celebrate prematurely.

DeLuca’s RBI single tied the game, igniting a rally. Chandler Simpson, who had already contributed an RBI double earlier, stepped up next to load the bases with no outs.

Then, striking in a crucial moment, Ben Williamson—who was the last player left on the Rays’ bench—hit a pinch-hit single to clinch a much-needed victory, forcing a Game 5 set for Wednesday night.

It looked like Pratt would be the hero for the Brewers, having an impressive 4-for-5 night that included an earlier RBI double. His solo shot had initially seemed to secure the game for Milwaukee.

This was the Brewers’ first appearance in the World Series since losing to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1982. After an impressive regular season with a 103-59 record, they were hoping to cap off a magical run with yet another win after sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS.

Prior to this game, the only postseason loss for Milwaukee had been to the San Diego Padres in Game 3 of the ALDS. Heading into Game 4, there was significant pressure on the Rays to score first, given their struggles just days earlier.

Simpson came through right away, doubling down the right-field line to bring DeLuca home for a quick 1-0 lead.

Pratt, however, wasn’t backing down. He quickly answered back with a two-out double, further proving his clutch ability. The Rays struck again, taking a 2-1 lead when an error by Brewers third baseman David Hamilton allowed Caminero to cross the plate in the fourth inning.

Yet, Hamilton redeemed himself moments later by leading off the fifth with a solo home run that tied the game again at 2-2. From that point on, both bullpens held strong, leading the game into extra innings.

As the innings rolled on, Shane Drohan, who hadn’t pitched in a month due to prior injuries, couldn’t handle the pressure of a determined Rays team eager to keep their season alive.

Now, with the series still alive, fans can look forward to another exciting matchup in Game 5 between these two competitive teams.
