R&B Group Boyz II Men Signs Agreement to Launch Country Music Album

Boyz II Men Making Country Music Debut in 2027

The renowned ’90s R&B group Boyz II Men is set to embrace country music, having signed a deal for a full-length album to be released in 2027.

Cris Lacy, chair and president of Warner Records Nashville, expressed excitement over this unexpected move in a statement shared by Billboard.

“Boyz II Men’s global influence is decades in the making,” Lacy remarked. “Their original music has touched many genres and cultures, and their influence on today’s country music scene, albeit surprising to some, is significant.”

Lacy also noted the reasons behind the band’s shift in musical direction. “When I found out that they grew up listening to artists like Randy Travis, which fueled their desire to collaborate with Nashville’s esteemed singers and songwriters, it was clear we needed to be part of this.”

“They were trailblazers during a time when media allowed fans to explore all types of music,” Lacy continued. “History has a way of repeating itself, and it’s an ideal time for Boyz II Men and those they’ve inspired to create something special together!”

While Boyz II Men won’t officially enter the country landscape until 2027, their interest in the genre is not new. The group performed with Brett Young on an episode of “CMT Crossroads” in 2019, and that same year, they collaborated with bluegrass band Steep Canyon Rangers on “Be Still Moses.” They also teamed up with country trio Lady A for the track “I Love The One.”

In the ’90s, Boyz II Men ruled the charts with memorable hits like “End of the Road,” “Mama,” “One Sweet Day,” and “On Bended Knee.”

They’ve also garnered numerous accolades including four Grammy Awards, nine American Music Awards, three Billboard Music Awards, and nine Soul Train Awards, along with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Throughout their career, they have ventured into film, television, sports, and fashion.

“These guys are more than just a vocal group—they are entertainers,” their manager Joe Mulvihill said. “From starring in a film with Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron to taking part in golf events alongside Mark Wahlberg, Derek Jeter, and Hootie & the Blowfish, and even collaborating with Jordan Brand on the landmark 30th-anniversary Air Jordan 11, they’ve continually demonstrated their versatility and ability to redefine what it means to be an artist.”
