RBC Heritage: Wyndham Clark unlucky rocket off a tree ruins nuclear round

Windham Clark entered the final round of the RBC Heritage on Sunday at 9 under par, seven strokes behind leader Scotty Schaefer.

But before the world number one teed off, Clark had narrowed the gap to just two strokes. That’s because Clark fired.

The reigning U.S. Open champion started the round with a birdie. eagle, Birdie. His putter was on fire, draining from long range and from off the green as well.

Clark then hit a great approach shot on the par-4 fifth and then sank a birdie putt. He’ll pick up a few more at 7 and 9. By the time Clark made the turn, he was suddenly at 16 under with just 29 shots remaining.

Of course, Scheffler had no intention of letting up. He chipped in on the par-5 second for an eagle, giving him a cushion.

But Clark had no intention of backing down. He continued his momentum on the back nine, sinking another birdie putt on the 11th.

And his day fell apart.

Clark’s tee shot on the par-4 12th missed wide and hit the pine straw. He was left with an awkward shot that simply returned the ball to the fairway.

Unfortunately, his the ball hit the tree Then, I made a beeline straight out of the frame.

He dropped the hole and ended up making double bogey. He then bogeyed the 13th hole, ending his chance for a miraculous victory.

Nevertheless, the 30-year-old reminded the golf world of what he’s capable of when he’s firing on all cylinders. Clark is aiming for another top-10 finish in what is shaping up to be the best season of his career.

Meanwhile, Scheffler appears to be on his way to more wins. This will be his fourth out of the past five tournaments he has competed in, including the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Players Championship, Masters and now the RBC Heritage.
