Alan Ritchson’s Controversial Commentary on Political Violence

Alan Ritchson, the star of Amazon Prime Video’s popular series Reacher, has stirred up conversation by seemingly endorsing political violence against President Donald Trump and other political figures during a podcast appearance. In a chat with Dax Shepard on Armchair Expert, he expressed that people should feel enough anger towards abusive figures, including Trump, to take strong action against them.

Ritchson’s assertions emerged while making the film Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, where director Guy Ritchie suggested that everyone would be better off waking up “in a pool of blood.” Initially skeptical, Ritchson admitted his perspective has since shifted. “There have been plenty of moments in my life when I’ve thought, ‘It would be so much better if everyone just woke up in a pool of their own teeth,'” he remarked, reflecting on the intensity of that sentiment.

As the conversation progressed, Ritchson touched on coaching himself to release feelings of resentment, critiquing current political scenarios. “Just look at the state of our politics now,” he noted, joking about the chaos at the White House. “It’s like there’s a UFC cage on the lawn, and nobody cares. There’s just no accountability.” He expressed frustration about the lack of planning and legality in the current political climate.

Continuing, he voiced his anger towards political abuse, emphasizing the need to address these egregious actions without simply letting them go. “I hate the fact that this kind of behavior thrives, unchecked and unresolved,” he shared passionately.

Ritchson then shifted his focus to the Catholic Church, lamenting the unresolved issues surrounding abuse victims and the consequences of holding grudges. He provocatively suggested that retaining some anger might be justified if it leads to necessary change, even implying the radical notion of violence against those he opposes.

His views have drawn scrutiny, especially considering his earlier accusations against law enforcement and his disparagement of Trump supporters. Ritchson has often made his anti-Trump sentiments clear, but his recent outburst raised questions about the extent of his views.

Interestingly, he also engaged in a physical altercation earlier this year, where he punched a neighbor, claiming it was provoked. Moreover, Ritchson candidly discussed his struggles with mental health, revealing his experience with bipolar disorder and its impact on his life.

His recent film, Motor City, premiered to a less-than-stellar reception, grossing only $1.6 million after its opening weekend.
