Joe Biden has announced that he will not run for president in 2024 and will endorse Vice President Kamala Harris.
In the letter, Biden called Harris a “great partner” and said his selection of her as vice president was “the best decision I have ever made. Today, I fully endorse and support Ms. Harris as this year’s party’s nominee.”

“I’m honored to have the president’s endorsement. My intention is to seek and win this nomination,” she said on X.

On behalf of the American people, I thank President Joe Biden for his extraordinary leadership as President of the United States and his decades of service to our Nation. His incredible record of accomplishments is unparalleled in modern American history and surpasses the achievements of many two-term presidents.
It has been a great honor to serve as his Vice President, and I am deeply grateful to the President, Dr. Biden and the entire Biden family. I knew President Biden through his son, Beau. We were friends from our days working together as Attorneys General in our respective states. During our time together, Beau shared stories with me about his father — the kind of father he was, the kind of man he was. And the qualities that Beau admired in his father are the same qualities, the same values that I have seen every day in Joe’s leadership as President: his honesty and integrity; his big heart and his faith and devotion to family; and his love for our country and the American people.
With this selfless and patriotic act, President Biden is doing what he has done throughout his life of service: putting the American people and our country above all else.
