We all knew this was coming, right? Taylor Swift has been a vocal advocate for abortion and LGBTQ+ “rights.” She endorsed Joe Biden in 2020. It should come as a surprise to no one that she's now voiced her support for Kamala Harris.
Liz Wheeler says it shouldn't shock us, but it should still be a concern.

Swift has “283 million followers on Instagram” and “reaches the ears of a very vulnerable demographic,” Liz said, adding that that demographic is people her own age.
“We're talking about 35-year-old women,” she said, “and if she gets them to vote, I think that's probably more powerful than the debates and will have a bigger impact on the election than the debates.”
Some have speculated that Swift's endorsement was planned and part of Harris' strategy.
But Liz doesn't think so.
“If you read Taylor Swift's Instagram post, you'll see that it's actually about Taylor. It's Taylor writing about Taylor. She's saying, 'Oh, there was an AI image, a fake image, pretending that I support Donald Trump and I want to clarify this,'” Liz says.
“If she really cared about the election, her endorsement would have been more valuable at another time, say when 'Trump won,' but she wanted to post it then for her own image.”
