Kirsten Storms Announces Upcoming Brain Surgery
Actress Kirsten Storms, known for her role on “General Hospital,” shared on Tuesday that she will undergo brain surgery next month. This comes after doctors discovered an aneurysm earlier this year.
In an Instagram post, Storms explained that a neurosurgeon found the aneurysm during tests she had in January, which were part of her follow-up care after a cyst removal in 2021. “My scan in January was prompted by some symptoms my doctor thought could be brain-related,” she noted. “When they told me about the aneurysm on the right side of my brain, I mean, I was just shocked… so I started making jokes.”
She elaborated that she had to undergo extensive tests to help the doctors better understand her health situation.
“This is a routine procedure, but the route the camera takes inside is *wild*… it goes through the armpits,” she mentioned, saying that her aneurysm was somewhat complex, though not problematic, so she didn’t feel overwhelmed that first weekend.
After consulting with a surgeon and wrapping up filming on her show, she decided to take a break from California.
Storms mentioned that stress might contribute to developing aneurysms and brain cysts. After her January scan revealed a tiny, new cyst in her brainstem, she realized she needed to make some immediate life changes. “For personal reasons, it was crucial that I move away from Los Angeles,” she remarked.
She hopes sharing her experience will highlight that, despite appearing normal on the outside, “we all face difficult times.”
“We’ll strive to prioritize what’s best for ourselves and those we care about,” Storms wrote, expressing surprise when learning about her aneurysm.
Currently on a break from “General Hospital,” she plans to return once she has recovered and settled down after her move. “I’m really looking forward to making Tennessee my home! I can’t wait to get back to GH once Harper and I are adjusted to our new environment,” she shared, referencing her daughter. “I aim to document this new chapter as much as possible on social media. Moving to a place like this has always been a dream for me, and it’s finally happening.”
