Reasons for Bad Bunny sitting during 'God Bless America' at Yankees game

Bad Bunny’s Stance at Yankee Stadium Sparks Debate

Bad Bunny’s decision not to stand for “God Bless America” at Yankee Stadium during Game 3 of the American League Division Series has generated considerable discussion.

The popular singer hasn’t publicly addressed the incident, but his team reportedly shared some context with another fan. Lawrence Levy, known as “The Marlinsman,” recounted his experience as an enthusiastic baseball supporter dressed in orange. He mentioned, “I noticed him sitting down, took off his hat, and put my hand on his chest. I told him, ‘Hey, you guys have to stand up. If you sit, they’re going to do a lot of terrible things to you.’

According to Levy, Bad Bunny’s representative explained, “He’s not awake because Trump and he (Bunny) believe there shouldn’t be a Super Bowl halftime show with an American country singer. They don’t think Trump realizes Puerto Rico is part of America.”

Levy also heard someone questioning the reaction to Trump’s past visit to Puerto Rico after a hurricane, where he infamously tossed supplies. The fans’ reply seemed dismissive: “Whatever.” It was clear they weren’t supportive of Trump.

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has caught the attention of President Trump and various critics who oppose his upcoming appearance at the Super Bowl, citing concerns over his predominantly Spanish lyrics.

He is also avoiding performances in the U.S. during his upcoming Debi Tiraal Mas Fotos World Tour, fearing potential targeting by ICE.

Levy noted that Bad Bunny arrived late to the game and spent quite a bit of time on his phone, even catching some foul balls, while refusing close-up shots from the cameras.

Levy said, “When the camera left, I asked, ‘What was that?’ He told me, ‘Well, half the world hates me and half the world loves me.’

He described the Grammy-winning artist as a “nice guy,” explaining that Bad Bunny simply chose not to stand. “He wasn’t trying to be rude. He just didn’t feel like standing, and there’s no law that says he has to,” Levy expressed.

Ultimately, Levy believes Bad Bunny was fully aware of the situation, stating, “It wasn’t like he missed it. He knew everyone was watching, and he decided, ‘I’m not doing it.'” So, it seemed pretty deliberate.
