Reasons the Bucks declined the Celtics' surprising offer for Giannis Antetokounmpo

Speculation Surrounding Boston Celtics’ Trade Efforts

It seems that Boston had quite the enticing offer on the table.

The Celtics proposed a trade that included star player Jaylen Brown along with two first-round picks to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has been a two-time MVP and ten-time All-Star, from the Milwaukee Bucks.

Brown, a five-time All-Star who averaged 28.7 points during the last season and played a crucial role in leading the Celtics to a championship in 2024, recently spoke about the trade rumors during a Twitch stream early Monday morning. “You’re trying to turn me into a monster,” he remarked, expressing a mix of confusion and frustration.

For a good part of the previous season, while Jayson Tatum recovered from a torn Achilles tendon, Brown took center stage as the focal point of the Celtics’ offense. This allowed him to shine independently, away from the shadows of other key players.

However, the Celtics ended up being a finalist that appeared to lack the impactful talent necessary to clinch the title. Meanwhile, Tyler Herro made a return to the Bucks, setting the stage for Miami to re-establish itself as a strong contender in the Eastern Conference, despite having missed the playoffs the season prior.

On another note, Bobby Portis has now joined Antetokounmpo in Miami as part of the trade.
